ChessPartner has a long history, although you may have seen ChessPartner only since a few months, the development started in 1987.

- 1987
The first version was written, the program was called LCHESS. It was a DOS program with a text based user interface.

- 1988
The program participated in the Dutch Computer Chess championship, it was not playing very strong, mainly because of bugs. It ended 13th from the 16 participants.

- 1989
Ger Neef joined the team, he was responsible for the graphical user interface, the program was still DOS based. Many improvements where made. That year it ended 7th in the Dutch Computer Chess championship.

- 1990
In this year the teamwork paid of, still DOS based the program ended on a shared 3rd place.

- 1991
The user interface was completely rewritten for Windows 3.0. Again played in the Dutch Computer Chess tournament, ending somewhere in the middle.
